Frequently Asked Question About Reparex Against Grey Hair

What is REPAREX?
REPAREX is a hair product which restores the user's grey hair to its natural colour.

Is it a hair colour/hair dye?
No, it is not. A hair dye colours your hair from the outside, but REPAREX changes the hair colour from the inside. It restores the original hair colour, just as your hair was before it became grey.

How is it possible to colour the hair from the inside?
REPAREX does not colour your hair. REPAREX is a natural solution which utilises the knowledge we have of the underlying reason for hair going grey. It supplies your hair with an enzyme which takes the oxygen out of your hair pigment and thus enables your hair to have its own colour. REPAREX renews the natural process which was present in your hair before it became grey.

Why do people go grey?
Our bodies produce a pigment called melanin, which occurs in an oxidised, colourless form. How melanin in hair gains its colour (brown, blonde, red, etc.) is that oxygen molecules are taken out of its structure. This action is done by an enzyme called catalase which is produced in the roots of your hair. As we get older or go through stress, our body produces less and less catalase to do this job. The oxygen left in the melanin leaves our hair grey. REPAREX contains an enzyme which can remove the oxygen from the melanin and thus restore hair to its original colour.

Is it true that hair colour is hereditary?
Sort of. A child doesn't inherit a hair colour, but a hair thickness. Thin hair has less melanin and is lighter – blonde; the thicker your hair, the darker it gets.

Is there any chance that when using REPAREX I will end up with any colour other than my original?
There is no chance you can only reach your natural and original colour.

What is the correct way to use REPAREX?
The REPAREX bottle has a duckbill spray nozzle, which helps you to apply small amounts of the REPAREX solution directly onto the scalp to the hair roots, this also helps to wet your hair. During the first ten days, we recommend you use REPAREX every day. Once your hair colour has been restored, we recommend reducing your use of REPAREX to once or twice per week.

Does this mean that during the first one to two weeks, I will use an entire bottle?
This really depends, and you may even need two bottles to reach your original colour. The required amount for each use depends on your hair density, hair length, the length of time you have been grey, your age and other factors. Some people may need two bottles, whereas for others one bottle will last for longer. The first bottle usually lasts one to two weeks. Once you reach your natural colour, you should be ok with one bottle per month. If you find you do need two bottles per month, which does not happen to everybody, you will still find it cheaper than going to a salon to have your hair dyed.

I wash my hair daily, can I wash my hair immediately after applying REPAREX?
No. Every cosmetic product needs some time to start taking action. Immediately washing your hair will not allow this to happen. As an example, when using hand cream to moisturise your skin, you would not wash your hands immediately after applying the cream. This is what we would most recommend: REPAREX should be applied to damp hair (towel dried). After applying the solution, wait for 3-4 minutes and then dry your hair with a hairdryer. Using a hairdryer will remove any extra solution you may have applied and will also help to speed up the entire process.

Can I use a hairdryer after applying REPAREX to my hair?
Yes, we highly recommend you use a hairdryer after each application, as it will remove any extra solution you may have applied and will also help to speed up the entire process!

The next day after using REPAREX I've noticed that my nails are sometimes coloured, why is that?
The main action of REPAREX is removing the oxygen when oxidised melanin pigment, collagen and keratin proteins are present. The reason why your fingers can become coloured is a lack of the presence of oxygen. We highly recommend washing your hands, nails and removing any trace of REPAREX from your sanitary ware, furniture or anywhere you may have accidentally gotten REPAREX. If you wash any affected areas immediately (you may only need warm water), then it should come out. If you spot stains after a few hours or days, it is much harder to get rid of them, but in most cases, bleach will help. Unfortunately, once you drop REPAREX on your clothes, you will not be able to wash it off. Therefore we recommend you fully cover your clothes while using REPAREX or don't wear any at all!

Is it true that REPAREX only works when applied to my hair roots?
Not at all. REPAREX should be applied near your hair roots to prevent a strong white line forming between coloured and grey hair, but it works over the entire length of your hair.

Why have you used a duckbill applicator rather than a simple spray nozzle?
The REPAREX development department conducted trials, tests and studies, and the result of many years of testing showed that this mechanism proved to be the most efficient. A spray system touches only the hair's surface, which causes difficulties in applying the solution closer to the roots.

Why isn't REPAREX available as a gel?
It was found in our tests that if REPAREX was applied as a gel, the user would have to wash their hair daily. That will lead to a decrease in the efficiency of our product and is disliked as a daily routine by many.

After using REPAREX, my hair went a slight shade of red, what should I do?
Any red shade is a result of over applying the REPAREX solution. You do not need to do anything as it will wear off on its own within a few days. Please re-read the instruction manual, which is contained in your packaging. It is stated there that a small amount of REPAREX should be used. Please continue to use only small amounts of REPAREX.

I am using REPAREX, and my original hair colour is back. Am I now able to dye my hair if I wish?
Yes, you can. REPAREX reacts to your hair from the inside, unlike hair dye which works from the outside. We highly recommend you wait at least 3 months between your last use of REPAREX and starting to dye your hair. This also applies if you would like to start using REPAREX on dyed hair. Wait at least 3 months after last dying your hair and ensure it is free of any colour before you start using our product.

I have heard about a product called Greylet, which contains ammonia. Does REPAREX also contain ammonia?
Not at all. None of our products contains ammonia. There are no ingredients not listed on the INCI list.

It is true that REPAREX is harmless? What about side effects such as hair loss?
REPAREX has been carefully tested according to the latest EC regulations for cosmetic products. This includes testing for heavy metal content, skin irritation and any general harm. It has also been evaluated by independent Cosmetic Product Safety Assessors. Furthermore, REPAREX has also been registered at the Central Registration of Cosmetic Products in Brussels, and according to its status as harmless, it was released to the EU market as safe and 100% legal.

Why is REPAREX sold in 3 variations, for men, women, and beard & moustache?
When we first started developing REPAREX, we wanted to produce only one unisex product. During the years of our trials and tests with volunteers, it was unfortunately found to be unworkable. Women's hair is more fragile than men's, and it was found that in beards and moustaches, there are dust mites which degrade the enzyme's activity. This is the reason why three variations of REPAREX are manufactured so that each one can be the right choice and the most effective for you.

Which fragrances are used in REPAREX?
There are only certain fragrances which don't react with any ingredients in our product. According to user feedback, we picked the preferred scent, which is currently mountain pine.

Can I use shampoo to wash my hair while using REPAREX?
Yes, you can, but to increase the efficiency of REPAREX we highly recommend using REPAREX shampoo.

Can I use REPAREX For Women during pregnancy & breastfeeding?
Yes, you can. The ingredients in REPAREX are never absorbed into the body and therefore are harmless and not dangerous for mother or baby during pregnancy or breastfeeding. This product is absolutely harmless and safe to use for everybody – of any race, sex or age.

I have noticed that since I started to using REPAREX, my hair is more supple than it used to be before. Is there any toner in REPAREX?
No, there isn't any toner. The elasticity occurs from a change in the molecular structure of reduced melanin. You are not only getting the colour of your youth but also the suppleness – this is one of the side effects of our REPAREX!

After using REPAREX I have my original brown hair colour back, but I miss being blonde, can I bleach my hair?
Yes, you can, but it is best to use hydrogen peroxide. Bleaching performs the opposite process to REPAREX by binding the oxygen back to melanin.

You say that REPAREX removes dandruff. I know that you can remove dandruff using a shampoo containing sulphur or antibiotics. Does your product contain similar ingredients?
The latest results from scientific research into dandruff production have shown that hair produces microbes called nanobacteria. REPAREX contains silver, and even the ancient Greeks knew that silver kills bacteria. The small content of silver in REPAREX is sufficient to eliminate dandruff as it removes the nanobacteria.

After gaining my original hair colour by using REPAREX, I can still see some grey spots. How can I get rid of these?
If your hair is too thick, you might have left some areas of your scalp untreated. Use a cotton bud to treat those areas.

I would like to use REPAREX, but I am albino, what colour of hair will I get?
Albinism is a genetic state in which the cells that normally produce the catalase enzyme do not contain the gene that regulates this production, which is why your hair does not have any colour. Our product contains an enzyme which will help your hair have a colour for the first time! It will become the same colour your mother or father has. You can use our product with no fear!

What will happen if I stop using REPAREX?
Your hair will become grey again. This is because REPAREX restores the natural hair deoxidation process which your body used to do but no longer does on its own. Your hair will turn grey within approximately two months of stopping using the product.

I have been using REPAREX for one year. My hair has always been very thin, but now I can see that my hair is thicker and more supple. Is this thanks to REPAREX?
Yes, it is. What you see is enrichment caused by removing oxygen from the melanin in your hair. As oxygen is taken out of the melanin molecule regularly, it causes the melanin molecule to become larger. That's why your hair is more thick and supple.

Does REPAREX reduce hair loss?
According to the latest scientific research, hair loss is caused by a lack of elements such as nickel and iron. We cannot say which one of these is particularly missing for each individual; therefore, REPAREX cannot help your hair to grow again. But we can assure you that it will not cause hair loss to start nor make it worse if you are already suffering from hair loss. Our product has no effect on hair loss.

I have noticed some light grey circles in my hair. Physicians told me that it is vitiligo. Could REPAREX help with this issue?
If you have vitiligo circles on your skin, we cannot help, but in the hair, REPAREX will restore the natural colour of these discoloured areas. This is also true of albinism. Apply the REPAREX to your entire hair, including the vitiligo areas.

I have heard that REPAREX can repair vitiligo in hair. What about my chest?
Our product will not help you with this problem, but we can suggest something else which may help. Some scientific research indicates the use of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA). Try this, and if it doesn't help it certainly won't do any harm.

After using REPAREX, I spilt some of it on my basin and other sanitary ware in my bathroom. This has caused black spots. How do I get rid of them?
When our product is on a non-organic material, it cannot remove any oxygen from the substance, and after some time without being absorbed, our product will start to cause spots. These can be removed by a chloride solution (bleach, Domestos, Vanish, etc.). Use a sponge, cloth or a cosmetic pad to remove it.

Some manufacturers of similar products recommend a diet while applying their products. What about REPAREX, is a diet necessary while using it?
No diet is necessary. The only condition which we recommend is keeping the washing of your hair to a minimum during the first ten days.

I am a happy REPAREX user, but I have noticed that when I turn my head in the light, the shades of my hair colour change a little bit. When I had dyed hair, this never happened. Why is this?
When your hair colour was natural, it looked as it does now. What you saw before with dyed hair was unnatural. This is one of the differences between coloured and natural hair. This is additional proof that our product really returns only your natural colour and nothing else.

I used REPAREX on my eyebrows, but I had noticed that the result is not as strong and effective as when I used it on my hair. Why is this?
This could be because you have used REPAREX For Men or REPAREX For Women. For your eyebrows, use REPAREX Against Grey Hair for Beard & Moustache. The composition of this one is adapted for better adhesion and elimination of mites, which eyebrows also contain.

I didn't read the instruction manual before I used your product. I thought it was the same as a hair dye, so I used the whole bottle. Am I in any danger?
No, don't worry. The worst-case scenario is that your hair will turn a shade of red, but it will go away after a few days. You can speed this up by washing your hair several times every day. REPAREX is 100% harmless.

Can I use REPAREX like a shampoo, applying lots of it to my hair and then washing the foam away?
No, do not do this. If you try this, you will notice you get no foam-forming anyway. We recommend you only apply a small amount of REPAREX close to the roots of your hair, massage it in well with your fingertips and use a hairdryer at the end. Using a hairdryer will speed up the efficiency of REPAREX and will help to get rid of any extra products you may have applied. Good luck!

I applied REPAREX to my hair, and my shirt got dirty. What should I do?
You can try to wash your shirt with a chlorine solution, but if the stain has been there for too long, then you may not be able to get rid of it. If this has happened to you, it means that you have either used too large an amount or spilt REPAREX directly onto your shirt. For this reason, we always recommend either not wearing any clothes or covering them completely with a towel which you don't mind getting dirty.

Is it true that G-Reductase causes hair loss? REPAREX also contains G-Reductase. Is it safe?
G-Reductase causes no hair loss. Rest assured that you can keep on using it.

How long does one bottle of REPAREX usually last for?
It depends on the hair length and density. Thicker and longer hair requires more solution and a longer time to achieve the desired result. If your hair is of average length (3 - 4 inches / 8 - 10 cm), then the first bottle should last for about 7 - 12 days, but once you achieve your natural colour then with this same hair length your second bottle should last for at least 1 month. It is very individual for each person, though.

I used my wife's REPAREX, and it worked on my hair as well. Why do you sell it in 3 different variations?
The main ingredients which return your original colour are the same in all our REPAREX products. But we do not recommend mixing them as after some time REPAREX For Men might damage women's hair as it is thinner, more fragile and finer. Therefore, we have added some ingredients into REPAREX For Women which are not needed for men – such as biotin, pantothenic acid, sea salt, etc. On the other hand, these are vital for women's hair. The same applies for REPAREX For Beard & Moustache, where we have added other ingredients such as lanolin, which removes the mites from beards and moustaches which were stopping the efficiency of REPAREX as these mites consume the enzyme. This is why we produce 3 variations of the product.

At my home, I have two bottles of REPAREX which expired 3 months ago. I used them, and they still do the job. Is it safe to do so?
The expiry date is calculated with some reserve given, so it doesn't mean that once this date passes our product stops working. But we do recommend you respect the expiry date and once your product reaches this date, it is best to get rid of it. By using any of our products after the expiry date, we can no longer guarantee the result.

I found one very old bottle of REPAREX on my bathroom shelf. How should I ecologically dispose of it?
The contents of the bottle can be flushed down the toilet. The plastic bottle and box should be recycled in your normal way.

My neighbour told me that after using REPAREX, my hair would become straight and unable to curl, is this true?
This is not true. When using REPAREX, your hair will behave as your natural hair would do. Therefore, you can treat your hair as you wish, you can curl, dry, comb it, etc. without any problem.

You mentioned there are mites in beards and moustaches. How do you eliminate them?
REPAREX can do this for you as the lanolin and copper acetate do this job as you can read in the instruction manual.
